Dear Parents

The Primary School has invited all Playschool children to attend a Christmas Sing-a-long on Thursday 15 December at 0900. The sing-a-long will last approximately 40 minutes. All children will need to be accompanied by their parent/carer. (Please complete the slip so I can inform the school of numbers).

Following on from this….

As the Primary School finish for Christmas at 1230 on Friday 16 December, Playschool intends to hold their Christmas party and AGM on Thursday 15 December. The party will start at 1030 thus giving parents and children who have attended the sing-a-long time to reach Playschool. All Playschool children are invited. If Thursday morning is your normal session, please delay bringing your child in until 1030. If children wish to dress up that is fine.

Father Christmas will be dropping in so could you please send into playschool, before Monday 12 December, a wrapped, clearly NAMED present, of a value not exceeding £5.00, for Father Christmas to give to your child.

With regard to party food, this year we thought we would try something different. Rather than us supplying party food, we will supply you with a named paper plate divided into 3 sections; savoury, sweet, fruit and ask you to supply the food. Not only will this reduce the amount of wastage, it will also help us to manage the high proportion of children with allergies.

The children will be holding a (short) recital of Christmas songs, in the main hall, after the party. The doors will open at 1200 for the parents offering to help put out chairs, otherwise can you arrive at 1230 when you will be able to purchase raffle tickets.

At some point, Anita Keelor (Playschool Chairperson) will hold our AGM. This is the perfect time to join our committee (without which Playschool is unable to operate). We appreciate that there is never a ‘good’ time to hold an AGM, but unfortunately it is something that we HAVE to do. Please show the committee respect during the AGM as in the past parents have continued to talk through the meeting.

After the recital we will escort the children back into playschool and while we get the children ready for you to collect them, the raffle will be held. I would aniticipate that we should be finished by 1.45pm.

Christmas Raffle:

We are holding a raffle after the Christmas performance. We have received some donations from parents and from local businesses but could do with some more. If you know anyone or any business that would be happy to donate a prize please ask them. All proceeds will go to the playschool.

Letter To Santa:

Over the next few weeks we will be asking the children if they wish to send a letter to Santa. Please inform a member of staff if you have any objections to this.

Now the weather is getting colder can you ensure your child brings named gloves/mittens and warm coat to playschool every session.

Committee Meeting:

The next committee meeting is on Tuesday 29 November at 8pm. It will be held in the upstairs committee room of the Memorial Hall.

If anyone is in a position to swap any session for a Friday afternoon, please see me asap.
