Playschool Fundraising

Hamble Village Playschool is a charitable organisation, and as such we are always looking for ways to raise money. Every penny we raise goes towards new resources, games, equipment … basically … towards more FUN for the children! Most recently, precious funds have been used to bring the outdoor classroom area back into action, electronic tablets for the children to use and much more.

Leaver's Show - July 2018: Always a bitter-sweet time of the year as we say farewell to our elder children who move up to Big School. At this year's leaver's show we were pleased to raise £78.

Tea Towels and Coasters - July 2018: Our ever-popular personalised tea towels were accompanied by the choice of coasters this year and we raised an invaluable £314.50.

Funday and Raffle - June 2018: We always look forward to Playschool's annual Funday. We had a Royal Street Party theme and were treated to a visit by the Hamble Fire Engine, along with a bouncy castle, arts, crafts, face painting, tattoos, lucky dip, teddy tombola, cookie decorating, BBQ and bar. Togther with fantastic raffle prizes from local businesses, we were delighted to raise £751.

Sponsored Wheelathon - March 2018: This is where the children can scoot, cycle, push a buggy - anything with wheels - around a course and sponsored per lap. Despite the atricious weather we had a really good turn out and raised an impressive £702!

Film Night and Disco - December 2017: The children enjoyed bringing in cushions and large bean bags to chill out to Stick Man whilst tucking into Hot Dogs and popcorn. Afterwards they let off steam at the disco, whilst parents enjoyed a cheeky mulled wine and mince pie. We raised £200 in the process.

November 2017 saw the outcome of the Co-Op Local Community Fund. The total funds raised by Co-op members is a staggering £1,874.36!! Julie took Beau and Elsie with her to the Co-op to be presented with the cheque. The money went  towards replacing the roof in the decking area and other improvements.

Our 2017 Summer Fun Day raised £677 plus £255.50 raised from our popular annual tea towel efforts.

The Teddy Bear Raffle raised a cuddly £33.

Easter 2017 - our Smartie Challenge invited people to see how many 20p's they could fit into a Smartie tube. A yummy challenge that raised £133 in the process.

June 2016 - Woo hoo! We're delighted to confirm that this year's Playschool Fun Day on 11th June raised over £1,000! Thank you to everyone who came and dug deep in their pockets to make this possible. From face painting, two bouncy castles, teddy tombola, "sieve it to win it", a lucky dip, and our annual big prize raffle, we had such great fun in the process.

April 2016 - BIG fundraising news! We are delighted to confirm that Cllr Keith House has kindly provided a full grant for the playschool to do a much-needed makeover of the carpark area of our outside space. Within weeks, we will be proudly unveiling a variety of vibrant floor paintings, including a road system for the children to follow on their trikes, a learning ladder and several other fun and educational graphics.

In other news, we are extremely grateful to Flossie's dad who ran the 2016 London Marathon and has raised over £300! "Playschool has been an important part of our family's life for the last five years" explained Flossie's dad. "The Marathon was a great opportunity to raise money and put something back into playchool."

As you can see, a wonderful new decking area has been built and the pirate ship renovated and bark laid throughout. A variety of gardening facilities have been installed, a toy kitchen plus other toys are now being used by the children. And the large undercover area enables it to be used (almost!) whatever the weather! A huge thank you to Julie, the staff and the committee for their time. Also, a big shout out to Osmotech who supplied the paint for the pirate ship.

Past fund-raising efforts include:

Over £1,000 was raised at our Summer Fun Day in June 2015. We all enjoyed the bouncy castle, crafts, BBQ, Pimms, strawberries, pirate treasure, face paints and much more!

The festive Film Night in December 2014 raised £163.19. Our stall at the Hamble River Games in July 2014, included a raffle, face painting, glitter tatoos, crafts and cakes. In total we raised just over £500.

Our 2014 limited-edition tea-towel, upon which pictures of all of the children (drawn by the children themselves!) appear, was another success, raising £320.
The Easter 2014 cake and book sale raise £169.00. Entertainment was included in the form of a memorable parade by the children of the Easter bonnets they had made!

After our annual Christmas show by the children in 2013, the playschool committee hosted a Christmas Raffle. Thanks to their efforts and many generous donations which included a swimming pool! (inflatable) we were delighted to raise £174.

We held a Film Night in November 2013, and with hot dogs at the ready we got together and watched Arthur Christmas, raising £127 in the process.

A Charity Race Night was held at the Royal Southern Yacht Club in August 2012 – everyone dressed up and lots of fun was had at this horse-racing night wonderfully organised by Playschool mums Kirsty Taylor, Caroline Barber and their team. The amazing news is they raised a whopping £3,900 for the playschool!

At the Playschool Summer Fete held June 2013 we had stalls ranging from cakes to hook-a-duck. We even had a real-life Fire Engine from Hamble fire station! The playschool staff and many playschool parents all got involved and between us we were thrilled to raise just over £1,000
