This half term:

At the end of last term the children showed an interest in Pirates and spent time outside digging for ‘treasure’, following on from this we will extend the digging but in the context of planting seeds – growing vegetables – keeping healthy. On this note if anyone has any surplus plant pots, seed trays, compost etc, we would gratefully receive them. This will also promote the childrens understanding of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), Rights, Respect and Responsibility (RRR).

RRR:

Schools and pre-schools in Hamble, Bursledon and Netley Abbey have been working together on building the children’s sense of responsibility and respect for themselves and others. It was felt that to develop the children’s learning and emotional journey from pre-school into and through the schools, and within the community, would be of great benefit if we all had a shared vision for all children. The outcome of which is a set of school aims ‘CLIC’ – Communication, Learning, Informed health, Community. Our aims are displayed on the cork board on the window sill in the playschool.

Lateness:

Unfortunately, we ended last term with quite a few late arrivals/collections. PLEASE endeavour to be on time so as not to unsettle your child. Please refer to our UNCOLLECTED CHILD policy. (Copy in foyer or alternatively can be accessed on line through our website – www.hamblevillageplayschool.org.uk.

Although we appreciate that sometimes it is unavoidable, by arriving late registration becomes disjointed and disrupts the children.

Similarly, collecting your child late, especially at 1200, means our ratio’s are out over lunch. During lunch the staff are there to supervise the children ensuring they do not choke, share food (in case of allergies) and assist them in opening packets, drinks etc.

Likewise if your child is registered for lunch and you find yourself running late, please give your child lunch at home and bring them into playschool at 1230. By arriving for lunch at 1210 the child is unable to finish their lunch by 1225, consequently, a member of staff has to continue supervising the child preventing them from organising the children that are leaving or interacting with the children that are staying.

Remember, if you are unavoidably delayed please phone the playschool – 07708 426134 – to enable the staff to reassure your child that you are on your way.

Library:

The “playschool library” is working well with many children choosing their own books to take home to read. Likewise children are bringing their own books in from home for us to read.

Amazing Achievement Slips:

Don’t forget these slips are available in the foyer for you to complete. Apart form Amazing Achievements we would also like you to share information on outings, family events, holidays, weekends etc. Just a brief couple of paragraphs and/or photos. This will help us to build up an holistic picture of your child outside of playschool and help us to focus on the unique child and build on their individual interests during their time with us.
