Thursday 2nd November 2017 – 2:00pm
Friday 10th November 2017 – 2:00pm
Monday 4th December 2017 – 2:00pm
            Monday 8th January 2018 – 2:00pm

Facebook Page:
Playschool has an ‘open’ and a ‘closed’ facebook page.  If you use fb, please check on these sites for any updates/reminders.  The ‘closed’ page is only available to current playschool parents.  If you do not use fb then there is information to be found on our website www.hamblevillageplayschool.org.uk.

Film Night and Disco:
We are holding our annual film night on Thursday 30 November 2017 from 4.45 to 7.00pm in the main hall of the Memorial Hall.   The film will be Stick Man followed by a disco.  Children’s tickets include a hot dog and drink.  There will also be mulled wine, popcorn, mix up bags, refreshments and additional hot dogs to purchase.  See Julie or a committee member for tickets.  Family tickets are £10.00, Adult ticket £3.00 and Child ticket £2.00.

Reports:
End of term reports will be given to you by your key person towards the end of November.  Should any parent require feedback before then, please feel free to speak with your key person.  The reports give you an indication of how your child is progressing whilst in our care.  We recognise that on occasions they may achieve goals outside of playschool, but we can only base our judgments on what we see.

Christmas:
We will finish for Christmas on Thursday 14 December at 3.00pm.  On Friday 15 December ALL playschool children (irrespective of whether they attend a Friday), are invited to our Christmas party.  This will start at 0930 and finish at approx 1230.  Please complete and return the slip at the end of the newsletter.

If your child is able to attend can you ensure that you send in a wrapped, clearly NAMED, present for Father Christmas to give to your child at the party (about £5 in value).   Please secret squirrel the present into playschool by Friday 9 December.

The party will consist of party games, a visit from Father Christmas and party food.  Playschool will supply the food but a voluntary donation of £1.00 towards costs would be gratefully received.  Should your child have any allergies, please speak to myself or Pam before the party to run through the food on offer and to check it is ok.  It would be nice if the children would dress up with a Christmas theme in mind, such as angels, shepherds, wise men or stable animals.  One of dad’s shirts and a t-towel around the head with a tie works well!!!!

The party will end with the children singing a few songs in the main hall.  The doors will open at 1105 for the parents offering to help put out chairs (and put away), otherwise can you arrive for 1130.  There will be refreshments available for the adults and a Christmas raffle will be held - we have received some donations from parents and from local businesses but could do with some more.  If you know anyone or any business that would be happy to donate a prize please ask them.  All proceeds will go to the playschool.  Afterwards, we will escort the children back into playschool and while we get the children ready for you to collect them, the raffle will be held by the committee in the main hall.

Parent Rota:
If your child has settled at pre-school and you would like to spend a session with them seeing what they get up to, then please put your name on the parent rota sheet located on the parent noticeboard.

Coats:
Please send your child to playschool with a coat that is warm and waterproof.  When we go outside in the rain not all the children choose to wear our waterproof poncho’s and material coats keep them warm but not dry.  It will soon be woolly hat and glove weather.  PLEASE ensure that these are NAMED.

Library:
Don’t forget we have a library in the wicker basket by the book case.  If there is a book that you and your child would like to read, please sign it out, then sign it back in when read.

Tapestry:
There are still a few parents that have not signed the green tapestry consent form.  If you have mislaid it or you would like further information, please see me.  If you have any feedback, positive or negative as to how Tapestry is going, please feedback to myself or Pam.

Show and Tell:
Please encourage your child to bring an item that interests them into pre-school for show and tell.  Children gradually become confident to stand in front of their peers and talk about their favourite thing and boost their self-esteem.

Hamble Primary – Nativity Dress Rehearsal:
Children that are leaving pre-school in July 2018 have been invited, with parents/carers, to attend the reception class’ nativity dress rehearsal on Tuesday 12 December at 2.00pm.  If you child attend pre-school that day you will be able to collect them at 1.45pm.
