This half term:

This half term we will be looking at Spring. Over the 6 weeks we will look at planting and growing, minibeasts, Mother’s Day, Spring flowers, Easter.

Keep On Talking Project (KOT):

In conjunction with the above project, there will be a Parent and Child Speech and Language Workshop, delievered by the Early Communication Support Service, held at the Windmill Children’s Centre (situated between Bursledon Infant and Junior School), Long Lane, Bursledon, SO31 8BZ. This will be beneficial to all children and carers in learning about early communication skills. There is no need to book a place. I hope to attend both sessions, so please speak to Debbie or myself if you are interested.

There are two dates to choose from:
Wednesday 5 March, 1-2pm or
Thursday 13 March, 6.30 – 7.30pm

The playschool library is working well with many children choosing their own books to take home to read. Likewise children are bringing their own books in from home for us to read. The library books are in the wicker basket by the Every Child A Talker (ECAT) tree. Please sign books in and out on the form in the basket.

Easter Bonnet Parade and Cake Sale:

We thought it would be nice to hold an Easter Bonnet parade on Thursday 3 April at 2pm.
Please pencil this date in your diary – further details will follow shortly.

Girl’s Clothing:

We are short of spare leggings and tights. If you have any that your child has outgrown, we will gratefully accept them.

Parent Rota:

The parent rota sheet is on the parents’ information table near the book corner. If your child is settled at playschool and you would like to stay for a session with your child, please put your name down. The children really enjoy showing their parents what they get up to whilst at playschool.

Coat hooks:

Please encourage your child to find their own name tag as this helps with transition for when they start school.

Amazing Achievement Slips:

Don’t forget these slips are available in the foyer for you to complete. Apart form Amazing Achievements we would also like you to share information on outings, family events, holidays, weekends etc. - just a brief couple of paragraphs and/or photos. This will help us to build up an holistic picture of your child outside of playschool and help us to focus on the unique child and build on their individual interests during their time with us.

Sainsbury Schools Vouchers:

We are collecting the above vouchers. Please ask neighbour, relatives, work colleagues to give any spare vouchers to you. Please drop them into the collection boxes in playschool.

Lunch Boxes:

Please ensure lunch boxes are clearly marked on the outside, and limit the amount of food that is in the lunch box as the children only have 20 minutes, for example a sandwich (NO nut or egg based fillings), yoghurt, fruit, crisps and a drink.

Named bags:

Please ensure that all bags are clearly marked on the outside please.

One of our Committee Members, Laura Wilson, kindly manages our website. If you have the time, please have a look on the site as we keep adding to it. If you can think of anything that may be helpful that is not on there, please speak to me.
