Dear Parents

Welcome back to the Spring Term.

Firstly, thank you for all your kind gifts and lovely cards. I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Christmas Raffle:

Thanks to all of you that donated raffle prizes and also bought raffle tickets. We had some wonderful prizes this year and with your generousity we raised £174.00 with the raffle and refreshments.

Application for a School place – September 2014:

If your child is due to start school in September 2014 and you have not already applied for a place, the closing date is WEDNESDAY 15 JANUARY 2014. Go online at www.hants.gov.uk/admissions.

Black Entrance Gate:

Please note; Between 0905 and 0925 staff will be setting up the outside area and from a health and safety aspect it is not feasible to have the children running around the playground. Likewise, at lunch time there is not any staff supervision outside. Therefore, could I please ask that you wait by the black gate until a member of staff opens the gate.

Annual General Meeting:

The AGM is on Wednesday 22 January 2014, 7.30pm, to be held in the rear hall of the memorial hall (Playschool). In attending the AGM you have the opportunity to meet the existing committee and find out more about becoming a member, should you wish. Remember, without a committee, playschool is unable to open.

Planning:

This half term we will are looking at healthy eating, teeth and bones, commotion in the ocean, Chinese New Year. During Chinese New Year we will be food tasting – prawn crackers, noodles, rice. Please inform you key person if you do not wish your child to participate.

Parent Rota:

The parent rota sheet is up on the notice board. Please write your name against the session you would like to stay and play (please ensure that your child has settled at playschool first). The children really enjoy showing their parents/carers around.

Key Person Allocation:

Where children have changed/added sessions it may have been necessary to re-allocate a key person. If this is the case you will be notified in writing.

Amazing Achievement Slips:

Amazing Achievement slips enable you to share with us anything your child does outside of playschool such as, ride a bike without stabilizers, sporting achievement, family outing, being kind, holidays, sharing; the list is endless. The children are very proud when we talk about their achievement to the rest of the group. If you require any more slips help yourself to the ones on the red table by the desk.

Room Layout:

Following on from the day closure we had last term, you may have noticed that we seem to be constantly changing the layout of the room. The training ‘Communicating Friendly Spaces’ was about how to make each area enticing and warm to draw children in to engage in conversation, hence more cosy areas and ‘dens’. If anyone has any cosy items they no longer use, eg blankets, duvets, cushions, bean bags (with removable, washable covers), we would be happy to take them off your hands!!

Library:

We are still running our library. All library books can be found in the wicker basket by the book corner. If your child wishes to take a book, please sign it in and out.

Naming Items:

Please ensure that lunch boxes, drink bottles, rucksacks are all clearly named on the outside so they can be easily identified.
