This half term:
To encourage all our children with language development by focusing on set songs/nursery rhymes such as the Pirate Song and The Wheels on the Bus. The repetiveness of these songs will assist the children. As the children often go home singing songs parents’ do not know, I have attached the words to this letter and they are also available on our website. Any questions please speak to Julie or Debbie.
Hamble Community Events:
HCE are holding their annual Children’s Easter Fancy Dress Party on Sunday 24 March at Hamble Club. Pre-school and Infants between 2-3pm and Juniors 3.15-4.15pm. Please email child’s name and age to reserve a place to lisa@hamblecommunity.org (see posters around playschool).
RRR:
Schools and pre-schools in Hamble, Bursledon and Netley Abbey have been working together on building the children’s sense of responsibility and respect for themselves and others. It was felt that to develop the children’s learning and emotional journey from pre-school into and through the schools, and within the community, would be of great benefit if we all had a shared vision for all children. The outcome of which is a set of school aims ‘CLIC’ – Communication, Learning, Informed health, Community. Our aims are displayed on the cork board on the window sill in the playschool.
Library:
The “playschool library” is working well with many children choosing their own books to take home to read. Likewise children are bringing their own books in from home for us to read. The library books are in the wicker basket by the book corner. Please sign books in and out on the form in the basket.
Henville Educational Foundation:
The Foundation was set up to promote and assist the education of young people. Any person under the age of 25 who lives in Hamble, may apply to the Foundation for financial assistance for their education, provided that it is not already available through public funds.
The Trustees meet 4 times a year and consider all applications on an individual basis. They welcome applications from anyone who meets the Foundations’ criteria and encourage a wide range of applicants. All applications are confidential. If you think you may be eligible, please contact Mrs Wendy Mason on 02380 452730 or 07805 940565 for further details.
Parent Rota:
The parent rota sheet is on the parents’ information table near the book corner. If your child is settled at playschool and you would like to stay for a session with your child, please put your name down. The children really enjoy showing their parents what they get up to whilst at playschool.
Amazing Achievement Slips:
Don’t forget these slips are available in the foyer for you to complete. Apart form Amazing Achievements we would also like you to share information on outings, family events, holidays, weekends etc. - just a brief couple of paragraphs and/or photos. This will help us to build up an holistic picture of your child outside of playschool and help us to focus on the unique child and build on their individual interests during their time with us.
Dental Survey:
Letters are going out regarding the above survey to be held at playschool on Thursday 14 March. If you wish your child to take part, but your child does not attend on a Thursday, still complete and return the form as the dentist will return on a day when your child is in session.
Sainsbury/Tesco For Schools Vouchers:
We will be collecting the above vouchers. The Sainsbury one is already underway and I would imagine that Tesco will begin shortly. Please ask neighbour, relatives, work colleagues to give any spare vouchers to you. Please drop them into the collection boxes in playschool.
Last Day of Term:
This is Thursday 28 March. On this day we thought we would have a Pyjama Day for the children as a playschool fundraiser. If your child wishes to wear PJ’s on this day, please donate a £1.00, but ensure they wear normal clothes under the PJ’s as the children will still have the option to go outside.
Lunch Boxes:
Please ensure lunch boxes are clearly marked on the outside, and limit the amount of food that is in the lunch box as the children only have 20 minutes, for example a sandwich (no nut or egg based fillings), yoghurt, fruit, crisps and a drink.
Emails:
Recently I have been emailing newsletters out to parents, but I understand some of you have not received them. If this is the case, or you have changed email addresses, please let me know. Also, please feedback to me your thoughts at the end of this letter. Please note information is available on our website – www.hamblevillageplayschool.org.uk
